Thanks for joining me at Social Venture Institute – Vancouver for my workshop on setting up an advisory council for your business.
In a community like the SVI alumni community, it’s easy to find support and advice. You simply need to ask. For ad hoc insights and ideas, just posting an inquiry to the SVI Google Group can bring dozens of useful thoughts. As new alumni of SVI Vancouver, you’ll all be added to that Google Group in the coming days.
For bigger challenges and opportunities, though, a more formal advisory group can be invaluable. During the workshop, we talked about methods and approaches to build and manage a strong advisory group. Some of those ideas are echoed in this blog post—one of the most-read post on Junxion’s popular blog.
One of the most valuable tools you can put in place is a clear Terms of Reference document for the Advisory Group. This template is a good starting point.
Lastly, don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to chat more about your advisory group. And if you’re keen to spend more time thinking deeply about your business, consider joining me at Hollyhock for Business Inside Out, my upcoming entrepreneurs’ retreat!
